Making the Complex SimpleŽ
An overwhelming cry is beginning to ring out across this nation. People
are screaming for simpler lives and life-styles. Time magazine recently
ran a cover story regarding aging baby boomers relocating from cosmopolitan
areas to the perceived simpler surroundings of this country's great rural
communities.
Of course, as soon as these refugees settle in they begin to become actively
involved in changing their adopted surroundings to ones that are more efficient
and productive. They are complicating the simple. At the same time,
many are creating new and innovative "virtual" industries by using the
technological tools which allow us to transcend space and time. Thus, they
are simplifying the complex. Interesting.
We live in a very fast moving, very complicated society. Everyone is
seemingly attempting to carve out their own individual universe by using
technologies that actually bring the people of the world closer together.
Privacy and anonymity tend to recede as information becomes more and more
accessible. We crave independence and individual rights. Yet, recent
statistics indicate the average citizen carries more credit card debt than ever
before.
How independent is that?
